Know When to Quit

Know When to Quit

I’m a person who doesn’t know when to quit because my parents never seemed to question unhappiness. If you started something you had to finish it no matter what.

Despite this damaging determination the family has rarely been wildly successful at anything, and the one member who worked hard enough to become successful was also the one who knew when to retire early and enjoy the rest of their life.

I’m also a Psychic Medium which means that I work with the Spirit World. As part of my work it is customary to ask for help and then look for the answers. This week an answer was delivered to me that was so clear and categorical you couldn’t possibly miss the meaning, yet it took someone else to point it out to me.

Why is it that we find it so hard to let go of things that are making us unhappy?

I once had a client who was so unhappy with her life and didn’t know what to do or how to make decisions. I thought about this for a moment running various complex formulas through my mind, and then I asked my Guide for inspiration and he said:

“The answer is simple, if something makes you happy do it, if it makes you unhappy don’t do it, or change it.”

We had quite a discussion following that statement, working very hard to complicate it, and yet when it comes down to it that’s a very effective way of decision making.

Yes we did discuss romantic relationships, particularly where children are involved, and we all know how hard it is to break up a relationship when children are going to be hurt as well. We complicated it as much as possible, but when you stop to think about it – if you’re unhappy then the children are going to pick up on it and they won’t be happy either.

We discussed work and the need to make money, but no matter how hard you try to complicate that it boils down the plain fact that it is possible to enjoy your work and make money either doing something you love or in a happy environment where you won’t care that your work is mundane.

Every time we tried to complicate a life issue we couldn’t avoid coming back to that basic simplicity he shared with us. If you’re unhappy try to change whatever it is that is making you that way, or move away from it.

I’m about to put my money where my mouth is and walk away from an opportunity that could have been brilliant, has had its wonderful aspects, but at the end of the day has made me frustrated and angry from the word go.

From now on I choose happiness.

Wishing you happy days and peaceful nights

Deb
